4/4 Violin Set by Höfner

The Höfner violin features a spruce top with even annual rings. The back, ribs, and scroll are made of finely flamed maple. The instrument is finished with a hand-applied varnish based on a traditional recipe.
The set also includes a shaped case by Winter.
The bow features a high-quality Brazilwood stick and is stamped “Höfner”.

4/4 German Violin Set

The violin in this set originates from the “Johann Wurm” workshop.
The violin maker crafted the instrument by hand. As shown in the photographs, it features a beautifully flamed two-piece maple back, matching ribs, and a matching scroll. The top is made of spruce with fine annual growth rings. The chestnut red-brown oil varnish completes the elegant appearance of the instrument. The violin is characterized by a clear, bright, and well-projecting sound.

4/4 Violin Set, Handcrafted with Great Care

This beautifully handcrafted violin was created through a collaboration between the violin makers whose names are written on the label. According to the young craftsmen, each of them contributed their finest skills and craftsmanship to this instrument.
The violin is combined with a GEWA Bio violin shaped case. The set also includes two detachable backpack straps. The lightweight case weighs only 1.6 kg. The bow, stamped “Dörfler”, features a very good Brazilwood stick and an octagonal shape with an ebony frog. Tonally, it matches the violin very well
French Violin, Grand Prix Paris 1931

This French violin was likely built around 1920 by an unknown maker, possibly in Mirecourt The fact that even for instruments without origin information from the well-known French violin-making town, high quality standards were nevertheless upheld, is evidenced by this French violin. It exhibits both fine visual appearance and excellent musical characteristics.
There are two labels glued inside the instrument:

With a handwritten note ‘Copie d’après,’ the violin maker intended to document the model’s inspiration from this master.

This is how the instruments and art objects presented at this Paris Colonial Exhibition were marked.
The violin falls in size between a 4/4 and a 7/8 This guarantees relaxed playing. But the tone is full and strong. The finely flamed maple is clearly visible through the transparent red-brown varnish. The instrument is in very good condition with refurbished playability

Italian-Style Concert Violin

This violin shows a clear stylistic affinity with the modern Italian school of violin making of the early 20th century and recalls the work of Marinus Capicchioni.
The powerful modelling, balanced proportions, and warmly glowing golden-orange varnish give the instrument a distinctive and highly musical character. In particular, the elegant flow of the lines and the strikingly crafted f-holes emphasize the Italian-inspired nature of this masterful work.
The carefully hand-applied oil varnish possesses a vivid depth and enhances the instrument’s warm visual presence. The surface displays subtle antiqued elements that lend the violin additional expression and personality.
The instrument clearly carries the aesthetic inspiration of the modern Italian master tradition and impresses through its high level of craftsmanship as well as its own individual character

The chestnut reddish-brown oil varnish is produced according to the maker’s own recipe and carefully applied by hand.
The surface is marked by a distinctive crackle finish, which gives the instrument its characterful antique appearance.
German-Bohemian Violin, Late 19th Century (Maggini Model)

This expressive violin originates from the German-Bohemian region and was presumably made in the late 19th century. The instrument is stylistically based on the model of Giovanni Paolo Maggini, which is reflected in its characteristic proportions and its powerful overall appearance.
The top is made of spruce, while the back and ribs are made of maple. The two-piece back shows a subtle grain, which gives the instrument a warm and elegant appearance. The scroll is carefully crafted and emphasizes the high level of workmanship of this violin.
The golden-brown varnish has a lively depth and highlights the natural structure of the wood. Age-related signs of use are present and give the instrument additional character without impairing its playability.
In terms of sound, the violin is convincing with a carrying, warm tone and good responsiveness.

This violin is inspired by the work of Eugenio Degani. In its model and execution, it shows a closeness to the North Italian school.
The workmanship of the edges and the scroll shows a deliberately fine, precise and slightly raised line work, giving the instrument an individual handcrafted character.
Tonally, the instrument offers a soft, round and balanced sound with a pleasant response.

Joseph Beltrami, Cremona c. 1872

This violin was made by Joseph Beltrami in Cremona and bears an original label dated 1872. The instrument is a characteristic example of his workshop craftsmanship. The two-piece back is made of lightly figured maple, with ribs and scroll of matching wood. The top is crafted from two-piece spruce with even to medium grain, widening towards the flanks. The dark red varnish gives the instrument its classic Italian character.
Luigi Montevecchi in Cesena ca. 1910-1920

Violin with label "Leonhard Maussiell "

The violin depicted below is a work by Leonhard Maussiell, built in 1724 in Nuremberg. Underneath the label, there is a burnt-in “M”.
In the books, it is written that L. Maussiell apprenticed under Matthias Maussiell in Augsburg. During his journeyman travels, his path led him to Tyrol and Italy. The highly arched instrument is typical of his work.
The old, well-aged sound has character and color.
German-Bohemian Violin, 1908 – Hilaire Darche (Brussels)

This expressive violin was made in 1908 by Hilaire Darche in Brussels, as confirmed by the original label and brand stamp. The instrument is in an original and consistent condition. The one-piece back, as well as the scroll and ribs, are made of flamed maple. The top is made of evenly grained spruce.
Violin with label "Michael Reindl in Mittenwald "
The violin with the label ‘Michael Reindl in Mittenwald an der Isar 1934′ is a work of the mentioned master There is a certificate for this instrument from Mr. Hieronymus Köstler, Stuttgart, issued in 2012.
“Michael Reindl was born in Mittenwald in 1898 and died in 1949.” He worked after various models such as Stradivari, Guarneri, and Stainer.

Violin with label„Hans Klotz“
The violin with label and brand stamp from Hans Klotz, Stuttgart 1956, is a very fine work by the mentioned master.
Hans Klotz was born on October 6, 1905, in Mittenwald and completed his training at the Mittenwald School of Violin Making. He worked for Dr. Eugen Gärtner in Stuttgart, and in 1936, he started his own business.
The present violin was built by Hans Klotz upon the request of a professional musician/teacher. Written documents about the construction of the instrument are still available.
